CPYO/CPYWE CONCERT

Pandemics aside, the talent, fervour, commitment and energy of the musicians of both the and the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble has not let them down. The concert will be streamed on the streamed on the Quicket platform from December 17 to 21.     The flagship youth orchestras will rouse and soothe your soul and they perform works such as Suppé’s Light Cavalry Overture, the Waltz from Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky, the Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Brahms (all CPYO) and by the CPYWE  the Little Fugue by Bach, Holst’s Second Suite in F, and Klezmer Carnival by Philip Sparke and Paul Murtha’s arrangement of The best of Miamai Sound Machine.     Tickets cost R75 and are available via Quicket: https://www.quicket.co.za/events/124111-cpyocpywe/?preview=t#/

Klein Karoo Klassique Virtual Concert Series

CPO musicians will perform three of four concerts on Thursdays from August 27 to September 10, with the Charl du Plessis Trio performing on September 17. The Beethoven Triple Concerto, a version transcribed for just piano, violin and cello and recorded on three continents with principal cello Peter Martens in Cape Town, pianist Bryan Wallick in the US and violinist Frank Stadler in Austria will be online on August 27; two Mozart Octets for Wind Instruments, K 375 and 388 on September 3 and the Gounod Petite Symphonie for Wind Nonet on September 10. Our wind players are Lisa White and Carin Bam (oboe); Daniel Prozesky and Annelize de Villiers (clarinet); Brandon Phillips and Simon Ball (bassoon); Caroline Prozesky and Conrad van der Westhuizen (horn) and in the nonet flautist Gabriele von Dürckheim. The CPO acknowledges with gratitude the generous support of the Rupert Music Foundation. A Klassique Package is available at R300 for all four concerts, or tickets can be bought for individual concerts at R100 each for Beethoven, Mozart and the Charl du Plessis Trio, and R75 for Gounod.
