Full Moon Picnic At The Afrikaans Language Monument

Full Moon Picnic at the Afrikaanse Taalmonument are very popular with local residents and tourists alike, who especially enjoy the sunsets and incredible night scenes.   Visitors can come anytime between 17:00 and 22:00, and have a look at the monument, which is an exceptional, symbol-rich sculpture. Visitors are also encouraged to explore, and there are outdoor games and playgrounds for children.   Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets or pre-order one from the Oppi Berg Mobile Café on 060 382 9938 (R250 per couple, R450 per family of four). Dress warmly and bring a torch, and a mask. See www.taalmuseum.co.za/covid-19/ for the specific protocols.   Tickets are R40 per adult, R10 for SA students and R5 for children (free under six years). They are available from Computicket or at the gate, and no booking is required.   Annual permits are available at R120 for individuals or R220 per family (currently offered at a 20%-discount), which includes access to all Full Moon Picnics. The evenings are held in aid of ‘Let’s Read!’, the Language Museum’s literacy project for children, and visitors are encouraged to donate a new or second-hand children’s book.   The next Full Moon picnics are on  26 February and 27 March 2021.

Stellenbosch Street Soirées

Drostdy Street, Stellenbosch

A series of laid-back wine, food and music socials. Participating wineries, chefs and restaurants will line Drostdy Street, one of Stellenbosch’s most historic and scenic. This is the opportunity to rouse your friends and family, and spend the evening in good cheer. But don’t just plan to go to one! Each Soirée features different wineries, giving you the chance to spread the fun throughout the season. Tickets are limited and pandemic compliance measures will be in place. This includes the requirement of masks, temperature screening and sanitising on entry.
