    Popular South African funnyman, Alan Committie, has had enough! He is finally going to present his first LIVE ONLINE COMEDY SHOW on Saturday 16th May at 20:15. This hysterical comedian (renowned for his 963 performances of Defending the Caveman,  Love Factually, Planet Mirth and most recently The Lying king: circle of laugh) is coming into your homes to talk about lockdown, taking life to new “levels” as well as sharing some of his most treasured and hilarious comedy bits from 23 years of solo stand-up shows….   • STREAMING WITH LAUGHTER

    Popular and hysterical South African funnyman, Alan Committie, returns for another brilliant live streamed comedy event on the 15th of August 2020. His latest show is called Streaming with Laughter and promises 65 minutes of hilarious silliness, sketches, brand new comedy and some old favourite routines drawn from his 23 previous solo comedy shows. This show has some added bonus features: - its being broadcast from a new studio with full stage and LED screen - There will be a live (socially distanced) audience watching the performance which will add to the mood and energy of the comedy show - There will be a couple of guest artists making an appearance in the show It’s time to laugh again. And assisting Committie will be his madcap alter-ego JOHAN VAN DER WALT (of Laugh out Loud fame) who will be pre-recording his thoughts and musings on lockdown and life in South Africa in 2020. Streaming with laughter will be a combination of live comedy, some pre-recorded sketches, interaction with those who are watching and commenting throughout the show and promises a spectacular climactic ending in which Committie creates a contemporary dance extravaganza as a praise-poem of hope for South Africa! Alan may or may not be wearing a leotard for this moment. The show WILL BE available to view for 3 full days after the broadcast date.   • The Outlaw Muckridge

    Baxter Theatre Centre Main Rd, Rondebosch, Cape Town

    Renowned radio broadcaster and actor John Maytham, teams up with director Alan Committie and writer Louis Viljoen, in the world premiere of The Outlaw Muckridge, at the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio, for two weeks only, from 13 to 24 October 2020, at 7pm.   This lethal trio of creatives combine their collective experience and expertise to present the first live stage performance at The Baxter since lockdown was first implemented, some six months ago. The story deals with a lonely, damaged man who has been taking care of his ailing mother for most of his life. In between bouts of depression and flashbacks to a life filled with emotional abuse and failures, he wishes himself to be a vengeful cowboy out to right the wrongs of the world.     Theatre On The Bay is THRILLED to announce that Alan Committie is back in his brand-new year-end stand-up show: Apocalaughs Now! from 9 December 2020 to 16 January 2021.   It’s been the wildest year yet with the most unexpected and crazy pandemic turning our existence inside out, and upside down. However, renowned funnyman Alan Committie is determined that we keep laughing in the face of it all. So, join him in his latest solo stand-up show which re-opens Theatre on the Bay this festive season.   Global lockdown, earthquakes in Plumstead, cigarette and alcohol bans, Cricket South Africa out for a duck, Trumpeting leaders blowing hot air and the only response we have had so far is to dance the Jerusalema (which is how drunk people pronounce Julius Malema after 2am in the morning).     Funnyman Alan Committie makes his return appearance at the all new Kalk Bay Theatre for FOUR performances only of his critically and commerically acclaimed stand-up comedy special! He will take a slightly skewered look at events from the past year, outline the comically bizarre  possibilities for the following 12 months and try to make audiences laugh their way through the eye-popping confusion of modern day living. In this solo show, (first performed at theatre on the bay in December last year) Committie will talk about Heidi en Klara and other 80’s tv deceits, the frustration of autocorrect, the lure of the finger biscuit and the spectacle of wearing glasses…..Or perhaps not talk about any of these things.
