    South African funnyman Alan Committie returns to Pieter Toerien's Theatre On The Bay for his annual year-end comedy show.Once again, he will take a slightly skewered look at events from the past year, outline the comically bizarre possibilities for the following 12 months and try to make audiences laugh their way through the eye-popping confusion of modern day living. Committie is renowned for his witty and high-energy material and combined with his madcap physicality and clean content makes for an ideal year-end break from all the stresses and messes of December and January. Plus, if you’re lucky, Committie will perform the entire opening sequence of the Lion King by himself playing all the animals except for the Kwagga (for legal reasons)....

    Based on the hilarious 1968 film, Mel Brooks’ The Producers is a laugh out-loud, outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical-comedy that has been a smash hit since its 2001 debut. Fading Broadway producer Max Bialystok (played by Alan Committie) is desperate to get to the top of his profession again, and finds an unlikely ally in mousy accountant Leo Bloom (Richard White), who predicts that one could make far more money with a flop of a show than with a hit. Together, the two set out to produce the worst musical ever to hit Broadway. Unfortunately for them, their show is a huge hit! With no shortage of show-stopping musical numbers, and Brooks’ signature humor keeping audiences in stitches, The Producers is definitely far from a flop.

    Theatre On The Bay is THRILLED to announce that Alan Committie is back in his brand-new year-end stand-up show: Apocalaughs Now! from 9 December 2020 to 16 January 2021.   It’s been the wildest year yet with the most unexpected and crazy pandemic turning our existence inside out, and upside down. However, renowned funnyman Alan Committie is determined that we keep laughing in the face of it all. So, join him in his latest solo stand-up show which re-opens Theatre on the Bay this festive season.   Global lockdown, earthquakes in Plumstead, cigarette and alcohol bans, Cricket South Africa out for a duck, Trumpeting leaders blowing hot air and the only response we have had so far is to dance the Jerusalema (which is how drunk people pronounce Julius Malema after 2am in the morning). But now Committie explores how we can stay sane and healthy in body, mind and soul with his usual madcap verbal wit and physical comedy shenanigans.   Our intrepid jester tries to understand wellness coaches, explores the world of Tik-Tok videos, unpacks how we thought the world would end versus how it’s actually happening and may or may not have found the missing R500 billion promised to the nation!   So, book now for the limited 6 week run at the most scenic theatre in South Africa.
