Sun, cocktails and jazz at Taalmonument
Lungi and Ramon end this 45th party on a high note The iconic Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument's (ATM's) first party to celebrate 45 young years, reaches a jazz crescendo on Saturday evening, 29 February 2020, thanks to Lungi and Ramon's incredible singing and piano talents; in short, the perfect soundtrack to a balmy late afternoon. This concert in the intimate Garden Theatre at the foot of the Taalmonument, forms part of the institution's weekend-long festival that include children's entertainment, a fun walk, yoga, midday concert, rock-tronic concert, poetry class and market on the stunning Paarl Mountain. Lungelo Motaung, or Lungi, is a popular artist at music venues and is praised for her vocal range, stage personality and interpretation of a wide variety of items. Next up is Ramon Alexander, a musical maestro who breathes new life into Cape jazz with original compositions and fingers that glide smoothly over the piano's chords. Therefore, an unrivalled sunset dessert awaits on this leap day menu! This event starts at 18:00, and is open to anyone with a day ticket. The multilingual, multicultural weekend programme will showcase Afrikaans in all its beautiful forms, reminding speakers and non-speakers of the unique, welcoming spirit of this plucky language. In addition to the children's playgrounds and outdoor games, some energetic child minders will keep the young ones out of harm's way with a puppet show, face painting and more. Day tickets cost R80 for adults and R40 for children under 13 - this includes all activities and performances from 10am.
