• A Christmas Carol – The Story of Scrooge

    Cape Town City Ballet presents a special Dickens treat for all ages of the timeless classic story of the triumph of joy and the human spirit over greed. On Christmas Eve the elderly and unpleasant old man Ebenezer Scrooge is paid a visit by the Ghost of his dead business partner Joseph Marley who tells him that three Spirits will call on Scrooge: The Spirit of Christmas Past, The Spirit of Christmas Present and the Spirit of Christmas Future. Marley tells Scrooge that unless he listens well and changes his miserly ways he will be forever condemned to be in chains of damnation. This is the story of that night.

    The 14th edition of the Artscape Women’s Humanity Arts Festival, is taking place via a series of live and pre-recorded online events between 09 and 31 August. Under the theme, “Freedom and Inclusivity for All Humanity”, this year’s festival will shine a spotlight firmly on South Africa’s continuing epidemic of gender-based violence.     French comedy: A group of patients with OCD, each thinking they have an appointment for a private session with a famous psychologist, arrive to find others have appointments at the same time and that the doctor is delayed. While waiting for the doctor to arrive they get to know each other and, finally, decide to do their own group therapy session.

    In collaboration with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CTPO) under the baton of Brandon Phillips. Presenting two works, George Balanchine’s exquisite Serenade, & Moon Behind the Clouds, a suite of works made during the time of Covid-19, by seven South African choreographers, including Veronica Paeper. Laced together through the timeless text of Max Ehrmann’s Desiderata this emotive & inspirational suite will be narrated by Marcel Meyer.  The CTPO accompanies the CTCB in the renowned works of Tchaikovsky, Massenet, Barber, Satie, Delibes & Mahler.
