What to expect: For the first time in South Africa, Mish Mash Media Productions staged an all female cast of William Shakespeare’s Othello in 2018. Now these women are back, feistier than ever and ready to show you what a modern day Shakespeare is all about. People continue to struggle with insecurities around race, sexism and spousal abuse, not just in South Africa, but all over the world. By setting the play in modern times, while staying true to the original text, we hope to expose this irony. Othello: A Woman’s Story highlights our primal selves, where the prison setting captures the darkest and purest sides of the human condition. You will find same-sex relationships, inner turmoil and power struggles, violence and more. Get ready for drama, thrills and unexpected twists and turns.
