THE MOUNTAIN PASS YOU SHOULDN’T MISS
UNFORTUNATELY THIS ESTABLISHMENT AS CLOSED UP.
Situated on the historic mountain pass between Constantia Valley and Hout Bay, Harbour House at Constantia Nek enjoys a stunning visual setting.
The restaurant space overlooks a small, manicured garden that rolls down the hill to the open vista of the entire Cape Flats, the Constantia Valley with its’ centuries old vineyards and False Bay framed by the Hottentots-Holland Mountains that embraces the Stellenbosch Wine region at their foot.
This is all a backdrop to a fine dining restaurant that was recently refurbished and joined by the stellar, award winning Chef Dylan Laity, previously from the Roundhouse in Camps Bay.
You can expect modern South African cuisine with definite influences from Dylan’s travels abroad. There is a good mix of seafood, vegetarian, vegan and meat courses and the owners are determined to use only the best and most seasonal produce that can be sourced.
The menu is designed to serve bold flavour marriages but always a grounded approach to cuisine and often some interesting South African twists – some of the signatures that have already made it onto the launch menu include the likes of Mozambique Langoustines with amasi, kimchi and smoked trout roe and Rare Karan Beef Sirloin seasoned with Rooikrans Coal Oil and fermented chillies.
The Restaurant @ The Nek is open from 12:00-16:00 and 18:00-22:00 every day and is en-route the City Sightseeing Blue Peninsula Tour. This makes the restaurant a great option for a leisurely, indulging stop for visitors to the region. A time to soak up the beauty of both the surrounds and the interpretation it gets on your plate.
Booking is highly advised, especially during the high season.
