THE WINTER HAUTE

THE WINTER HAUTE

For many of us winter indulgence involves a roaring fire, a great bowl of soup, a hearty, satisfying main dish and a full body, preferably with beautiful scenery. Well, lucky enough, Haute Cabrière Wine Estate listened to those covert feelings around when Chefs Nic van Wyk and Westley Muller designed their Winter Menu.

Haute Cabrière estate’s visitor facilities are located just outside Franschhoek, on the slopes of the Hottentots-Holland Mountains, literally built into the rock. The complex includes the wine cellar and maturation rooms, the tasting room and the restaurant. It houses both Haute Cabrière and Pierre Jourdan range of Methode Cap Classique.
The award winning restaurant and chefs have put together a winter menu that is inspired by robust flavours and a feeling of comfort. You are welcome to sit by the open fire and enjoy the A La Carté menu or try one of the set menus options for the season.

Two courses at R230: Featuring a generous steak as main course, with triple fried hand cut chips, garlic and black pepper sauce, green beans and onion rings, paired with the Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir Reserve, at R185pp. Diners can add a dessert of the day for an additional R45. Available for lunch and dinner, excluding Sundays.

Six course Tasting Menu at R450: The six course Haute Cabrière tasting menu gives diners the opportunity to sample more courses off the menu compared to regular dining, and also a larger range of Haute Cabrière and Pierre Jourdan wines. Current menu favourites include the venison loin with port sauce and an onion and fig tart, paired with Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir, and sago pudding with almond ice cream and toasted meringue, paired with Pierre Jourdan Ratafia. The price is inclusive of wine paired with each course. Available for lunch in the 12:00 and 12:30 time slots, and for dinner in 18:30 and 19:00 times slots, excluding Sundays.

Feast on Sundays: A menu designed around feasting and the breaking of bread. The menu celebrates abundance and pays tribute to leisurely family lunches. R370 pp with wine from the Haute Cabrière and Pierre Jourdan ranges included. Children 12 and under R150.

During the winter, until 31st August, the restaurant is open for lunch from Thursday to Sunday and for dinner only on Fridays.
