Our Cup of Tea
To celebrate Women’s Month, we popped into Harbour House in Constantia Nek who now offers a charming High Tea in the tranquil and sophisticated setting of this iconic destination. Guests can enjoy the perfect cup of tea surrounded by the peaceful beauty and commanding views of the rolling Constantiaberg mountain range from the wall-to-ceiling windows.
The décor is simple and understated keeping the original form and structure of this Heritage building. White interiors with rustic stone walls, floors and herringbone brick work simply to amplify the original space.
The restaurant is the perfect size and venue to throw the perfect tea party for your bridesmaids, or your mother, favourite cousin or best friends. It’s the ideal meeting spot for special birthdays, pre-wedding parties, kitchen teas, baby showers or just a day out to treat yourself. While you feast on the beautiful platters, savour the views of the wine valleys in the distance or step out into the herb garden which supplies the kitchen.
The delectable new menu has two simple options to choose and the generous portions make it ideal to share with your favourite friends. The Petit and the Deluxe:
The ‘Petit Platter’ has small scones with cream and jam, delicate sandwiches and three different tarts: cheesecake, lemon and dark chocolate. It comes with two pots of tea or coffee. The platter is R300.00 for 2 people
The generous ‘Deluxe Platter’ is a three-tiered delight of scones, sandwiches, two types of samosas, quiche, red velvet cake, carrot cake, lime panna cotta and also comes with two pots of tea or coffee, La Parada will happily oblige. The Deluxe platter is R520 for 2 people – if you would prefer to add bubbles, it will be R640.00 for 2 people.
Each tasty treat is specially made in the Harbour House kitchen, so pre-bookings are essential. High Tea is served from Monday to Saturday from 2pm- 5pm at Constantia Nek only. Other times can be accommodated subject to availability and booking. This delightful setting can seat 80-100 people.
Of course, should you wish to wine and dine, as a sister restaurant of the original Harbour House in Kalk Bay and V&A Waterfront, it sticks to a winning formula of fresh seafood served with a gourmet spin. Share a legendary sushi, shellfish or seafood platter with calamari, mussels, prawns, crayfish and line fish, or opt for the ever-popular Mozambican-style peri-peri tiger prawns.
